Coupling garlic with lemon may sound weird at first, but they go along very well together with Brussels sprouts
Ingredients
- Brussels sprouts: 1 kg
- Garlic cloves: 5
- Lemon: 1/2 (generous)
- Gruyère cheese: 3-4 tablespoons (grated)
Direction
- Clean the Brussels sprouts by removing the tough stem and the outer layer of leaves.
- Cut the Brussels sprouts in half, pour oil into a pan over medium-high heat, and add the sprouts.
- Sauté them for about 15-20 minutes, gradually adding a little hot water (adding the minced garlic halfway through cooking) until the outer part is caramelized brown and the inside is soft and fully cooked.
- Reduce the heat to low and add lemon zest, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine the ingredients.
- Adjust the seasoning if necessary, then add the cheese and cook for another minute or two before serving.
