Some dishes immediately have the power to evocate memories.. this is one of those. When I was a young kid my grandma used to make it when I visited her on the Adriatic coast. That was a great breakfast. My grandma used lard as an ingredient, I used butter and replaced half of the sugar with a whole brown one, making it darker, a bit healthier, and with a pleasant licorice taste.
It”s a quick and easy dish, I even cook it in the air fryer to do it faster!
Ingredients
- Melted butter 80 g
- Baking powder for cakes 16 g
- Sugar 60 g
- Whole brown sugar 60 g
- 00 Flour 300 g
- Eggs 2
- Vanilla essence
- Orange blossoms essence
- Salt a pinch
To garnish
- Milk, a little bit
- Sugar, a little bit
- Grain of sugar 1 tablespoon
Directions
- To make the “ciambella”, melt the butter and let it cool; once cold, add it to the other ingredients and knead.
- Once you have obtained a homogeneous and compact dough, give it the shape of a loaf, then brush the surface with the milk, and finally garnish it with granulated sugar and the sugar grain.
- Cook the donut in the air fryer at 170° for 30 minutes.
